The Event

#KeepingItTogether
Tucson JCC
7:00 - 9:00 pm

Join together for an evening of community and inspiration as 350 women make challah, a staple of the Shabbat table spanning across cultures and generations.

Come alone, bring your mother, daughter (ages 9 and up), sister, girlfriend and hiking partner! Whether it's your first attempt to make challah or you are a certified maven, this event is for you.

This elegant event is a joint initiative of Chabad Tucson and the Tucson JCC with the participation of local congregations and organizations, motivating Jews around the world to experience the beauty and serenity of Shabbat.

New this year: Learn how to brain a challah for Rosh Hashana and the new Jewish year.

Why Challah?

Making and separating the challah bread is one of the 613 mitzvot (divine commandments) that constitute the body and soul of Jewish life.

Replete with spiritual meaning, it is one of the three primary mitzvot of the Jewish woman and has a far-reaching effect on the mind and heart of the one who fulfills it, on her household, and on the very character of her home.

For more than a hundred generations, Jewish women throughout the world have fulfilled this beautiful and life-transforming mitzvah.

Shabbos brings everyone back to their inner happiness. It brings Jews together, it preserves our traditions, it preserves our family and it preserves our sanity
